Mendelssohn vs. Grieg
on: July 07, 2015, 02:50:51 AM
Hi,
So, I've decided to learn 2 concertos (or 3, if I have the time). I already have some experience w/ Grieg and Mendelssohn ;D, and they are the only choices I like on a competition's concerto liszt. However, another competition is more "free", so I want to do a different concerto for that.

Thanks, everybody! ;D

You're kidding, right?  You haven't picked out a sonata, a mazurka  or modern music.  And now, you want to learn two or three concertos?  You now are asking about a second competition and are worrying about "Moonlight" Sonata" as an option.  Get your earphones on so you can listen to YouTube, and then get your credit card out and purchase some music.

You have asked others to make every choice for you, and have asked for PD music "if legal in your country"  I have found this community to be helpful when I have asked about repertoire questions, and you are ruining that 'grace' for  the remainder of us.  Go listen, buy what you like, and play what you are capable of playing. Anyone entering a competition should be capable of this process. If not, postpone it until you can do this.

I'm really sorry! I was unclear again! >1 point off my clear communication class ;D< But my main question is, what is better to play? Mendelssohn or Grieg? I understand now, it is ILLEGAL to get non_PD music from others, even if it was only send in a message. And I understand how you write that "You have asked others to make every choice for you". I would do that too, if I were angry.  :-\  But still, I have limited down the Mazurkas into 2/3 pieces before posting the poll. Still, I understand that part. I can never understand a whole emotion, however, or a whole human, but at least I know why you are upset now. I'll try to change my ways and post a little lest in the "Repetoire section" :)

P. S. I've been listening to YT A LOT ::). That is why there's only 2 options left ;D

Oh, and yeah, it's not 2 or 3 concertos. Its just the 1st movement  ;D I'm probably only doing 1 full concerto. ;D

With these kinds of decisions, just flip a coin.
