Dear Doc, I think you may recognize me by my pseudonym. I live here in Collegeville, PA and am thinking about taking on more piano students myself. But, you, WHY do you want more piano students? You are an absolutely unsurpassed (in my book) conductor. I think you should teach conducting. Maybe you already do, but your understanding of reading so many parts, all the instruments, etc. is something not very many people can do (let alone do well). I look up concerts coming up and wish very very much I could come to the spring symphony concert.
Someday (after i take a concerto class) will you let me perform a concerto? Right now I am overcoming a mild depression (after my last piano lesson my teacher told me i had no feeling). I finally got up the nerve to call him back this week--and said "is it true i have no feeling? should i quit. And, do you know what he said. "i don't remember saying that, was i referring to the mozart?" So, i got over my depression quickly and started practicing again. You know, I think I'm getting better (especially with his help - he's very good.) Have learned a Scarlatti sonata (k119), Mozart Fantasie (c minor), Brahms Intermezzo, and am working on a 20th century piece (or 21st) soon.
My teacher has lots of students by word of mouth. You could, too. You are multitalented. But, for you, i think too many piano students would drive you crazy. You couldn't concentrate on symphony scores. All my best to you and yours. and, symphony and master chorale (from whom i heard the best music in the world, too). you have some great singers.
