Ballade 2 fingering
on: July 17, 2015, 05:36:53 AM
Uh... yeah so I wound up tacking this piece on also.  :o  ::) :P Sorry for another fred thread, I know theres a lot.  :-\  :-X  :-X  :-X But hey this is chopianostreet right?  ::)  ;D

It's kind of weird, I've found the whole thing to go a lot smoother than ballade 3. I guess everyone is different. Even the coda doesn't seem that hard, but I keep mixing up the fingering. So I've attached a piece of the score. Right there, do you just keep doing 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2 5-1 4-2? If you don't do this, can you spell out the fingering you prefer to use?

Also, would you suggest making the top note come out clearly in the first melody, or have all 4 voices coming out together? Thank you very much!!

Dear god, that was one hell of a wall of text... and numbers.
You should probably be able to figure this out for yourself, I'm sorry. Hate to be condescending, but jumping into the second ballade with a full fingering request probably will set you up for failure.

And just so you know, I wasn't asking if I should play it or not. I was wondering if people who have played it could tell me what they did there. And I think I may have figured it out anyway. The only reason I asked is because that's what my book had penciled in by somebody else and I don't think it's the best way of doing it at all. I would still appreciate it if others told me what they did though, and also the second question I asked about the first melody voicing.

I'm on pretty good terms with you, chopinlover01, but just please don't say that I shouldn't play a piece that I'm already a good way into because I asked for some help with fingering...

No, you're right about that, I looked back at it just now and that was kind of an assholish thing for me to say.
Fingering for an entire section though, is something that only you can really answer for yourself- I could probably find my own fingering for it but it'd be very individual for me and may change anyways.
As for the voicing, I'd have the lower voice (the chromatic bit) come out, as it's really the only thing worth listening to IMO.
