it would really help if we had something to listen to there...I have no idea how you play

just generic "Clair De Lune" tips?  count it in 3?   smile when you enter the room and look the judge in the eye...  ooooze confidence....  thank him for listening to you !!!!!  that's pretty generic

hmmmmm...  careful not to start with too much volume at the top of the second page...don't pound the Eb?

really think of a harp at the end?   hold it out---lol..  careful to keep the pp at the end?  maybe you do this I dunno?

that's stuff I told my students...like I said --give us something to listen to and you will get some tips

Delicately and warmly, sounds cheesy but play like you're trying to win someone's heart.
Ravel Jeux D'eau
Brahms 118/2
Liszt Concerto 1
Rachmaninoff/Kreisler Liebesleid

I had a hard time trying to decide how much freedom to allow myself with the rhythm and found this helpful.  This is not just about Claire de Lune, but all of Debussy

My advice - make music. Don't think of notes, timing, anything like that, it is far from necessarily and can almost be detrimental particularly with this piece.

Would you rather play everything perfectly yet forfeit some of your musicality and feel as if you have not given the best music you can to an audience, or play with passion, from the heart and make great music? In my opinion, this is one of the best piano works out there for the music it provides - enjoy yourself, don't overthink and be true to your own musical choices and taste.
Rachmaninoff: Prelude in B minor Op. 32 No. 10, Trio Elegiaque No. 2
Ravel: Jeux D'eau
Liszt: Sonetto 104 del Petrarca

I just recently performed this piece for an exam, and one of my major criticisms was not letting the phrases breathe, in particular in the first/last pages. Give lots of room between phrases, otherwise it'll feel rushed!

Some performers play the middle section VERY fast, and I tried to emulate that for a while, but finally realized that it sounds more natural and flowing if you go at the tempo that is most comfortable for you, even if not crazy fast. This song should never sound forced - it's all about ease.
