Anyone here a fan of Liszt's FIRST Liebestraum?
on: August 04, 2015, 02:13:38 AM
I personally think this is a very nice and sublime piece. It doesn't have the "fire" or "intensity" of the third, but I think it is far more solemn and reflective, evoking the mood of a man of few words' gentle prayer.
Is there anyone here who likes this the most, of the three Liebestraumes? What do you think?

It is certainly a good bit of introspective Liszt. I hadn't listened to any other Liebestraum but 3 so thankyou for getting me to check it out. The piece has some very nice moments but to me it is not as powerful or passionate as 3 nor does it have quite the same dramatic sweep. But that's me, I think preferring this piece is an understandable position, just not mine.
