Which Mozart fantasy is your favorite?
on: August 04, 2015, 02:37:00 AM
Hello all, I need to learn one of three of Mozart's fantasies; the second one in c minor, the third in d minor, or the fourth in c minor. Which do you suggest I take?
And which is your favorite and why?
Thanks!
Fantasia no. 1 in C Major, k.394
Fantasia no. 2 in c minor, k.396
Fantasia no. 3 in d minor, k.397
Fantasia no. 4 in c minor, k.475
Personally I still find it hard to decide. But I guess for now, my favorite would be the second one (k396) in c minor.
Regards,

The Fantasia for Mechanical Organ K. 608 in F minor (often played in two piano arrangements) is probably my favorite, although I love them all and wish he would have written more. The opening drama, the counterpoint with an arresting theme that sticks with me for days after listening, the fluid, inimitable lines of flowing melody that only Mozart can write, then to transform that lyricism into a baroque moto perpetuo which eventually leads back to where we started.
