VIDEO: Arvo Pärt- "Für Alina"
on: August 07, 2015, 09:42:06 PM
This is an encore from my recital. Bear in mind this was played after Goldberg variations, so I am a bit drained artistically
If you like the performance, let me know and feel free to check out my other performances, some of which I have already posted here. If you don't like it, let me know what it was that bothered you! Thanks for listening, and have a wonderful (rest of) summer! Or winter, that is, although my YouTube channel hasn't had many listeners from the Southern hemisphere so far...

This is a curious, reflective piece... Not the kind of thing I normally listen to but I think you play it well... Can I ask why you chose it as an encore? It seems an odd choice...
I also left some comments on your other videos. I'm even tempted to subscribe given the level of your playing but I'd like to know what you have planned for your Youtube channel.

Well, it seemed a suitable, "out-of-this world" ending after the Aria da capo of the Goldberg. I couldn't have played any Bach after that, and some kind of show-off piece would ruin it for me.
As for my plans about my YouTube channel I'm not sure I understand the question. I am just trying to reach people with my playing, no masterplan behind it... And how my plans could determine your decision on subscribing, I am not sure. Anyway, thank you very much for listening and taking the time to comment! I am planing to do a concert with Rachmaninoff Etudes-Tableaux, possibly next year, as well as a studio recording of the Goldberg variations. All of that, of course, if I manage to find the practicing time (I have a newborn baby and I work full time as accompanist)

Oh, that makes a lot of sense actually, I'd like to hear your Goldberg too.
I guess I think in terms of Grand plans, I posted my ridiculous list of desired pieces on the forum actually. My goal is to do lots of recording and also some composing of my own. I even have other ideas for my Youtube channel but I digress. It's not a problem if you don't have concrete plans for your channel, I was merely curious. It sounds like you have some good repertoire coming as well so I will subscribe and browse your channel some more.
Congratulations on the baby! It's hard to juggle pianism with family life, I don't have to but my sort-of teacher has 5 kids so she tells me about it haha. Anyway perhaps you could also post some videos of your accompanying? I'm a singer as well as pianist so I'd be interested.
