Arabian piano music
on: September 03, 2015, 09:55:17 PM
This is a piano cover of Arabian soundtrack of a TV series (Saraya Abdeen). I was playing it for a while so I thought of recording it to get feedback. I would really appreciate comments concerning all the aspects of the performance.

Just a side note, put these in "Audition" to get the most views feed back etc.

So firstly, the start is very nice, I'd suggest making the right hand louder, is a very nice melody, bring it out or quieten the left hand. Now before I continue, a word on that left hand.

Bring the wrist up man, keep above the keyboard I see you bringing it down, it's going to put strain not only on your wrist, but it will prevent you from quieten that left hand and won't let that lovely melody sing. Remember just because it looks elegant doesn't mean it sounds elegant ^^

Sometimes you bring the pedal up when you shouldn't, and sometimes you hold it down too long, so be aware of that, don't get in the habbit of trying to sync it to a rhythm or to a hand, use it when you need it. If you can play legato you don't need it constant.

The arpeggios were quite nice, again the wrist, and what I'd say is maybe bring them out a little more and maybe not make them so in time, like drag them out a little bit, speed them up a little bit as the melody is building and easing off the pedal a little more into the arpeggios i think to really emphasize them.

The piece itself is very nice I enjoyed listening to it, different to what i'm used to hearing. that's a small section about 2.30 where you just do right hand, i'd have done that with no pedal, don't want to hear the ringing of the left hand.

Think it happens again at 4 min, break off sound out the right hand then bring that left back in for an ending.

Pedal can easily become a comfort if you can play legato, dont worry about that pedal, clarity of notes is much nicer without the ringing.

You can play the piano - this was very good. I have maybe been a little critical and it's biased from my preference, but overall it was a nice performance concentrate on your technique and the rest falls into place.

***EDIT*** If you have the music for this, feel free to send my way and i'll post my interpretation see what you think. If you have composed for piano yourself, write it down and send it my way!

ditto... ;D

nice piece and you have a very musical sense  to your playing

I get the feeling you are focusing your attention on either the keys themselves or your fingers...  either way I think it's why you are not hearing the choppy/mushy pedal.   try to devote more brainpower to listening as you are playing...  be aware of everything you hear.

I agree with adod
clean up the pedal and pick up the wrist.  Your moves are fluid but there is still far too much tension across the hand.. that is really going to get in your way.

Thanks very much for your helpful feedback, I will dedicate some hours to focus on pedals and also lifting up my wrist (I never noticed this problem)
