Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words
Can anyone rank them by order of "beauty" and difficulty level?

I just have to say I played only one- in g-minor No.21 and I have heard the others but this one was the best for me.
So that would be my first place. {Presto agitato all the way,baby
}
As for the other pieces, I'll let the people who have played them rank them...
Just wanted to say that....

I do not have much experience with Mendelssohn but my favorite Lieder ohne Worte are the Venetian Gondola Songs (simple but beautiful) and the Spinning Song...Arthur Rubinstein really makes that one shine.

op.67 no.2 is only grade 7 while op.19 no.1 is grade 8?
check them again, op.67 no.2 is actually difficult.. 2 voices, one staccato, one legato at the same hand
op.19 no.1 is very easy.

Lol op 102 # 3 is grd 7 in US but grd 9 in Canada.... I played that as an etude but dropped it because I prefered playing Moszkowski. I like Op. 30 #4 though.

Beauty level is purely subjective. Buy a recording and make a list yourself.
