Gould - Partita's, Well-Tempered Clavier, Two/Three-Part Inventions, Toccatas, the other suites too (French, English), French Overture and pretty much all of Bach's other keyboard works.

I also like a lot of his Beethoven interpretations, but I prefer Arthur Schnabel on most Beethoven and I also really like Michelangeli's Beethoven op 7, even though I hate that sonata.

BW,
Glenn

Haha, really all of Gould's stuff?

Consider the next pieces:

  • Mozart Sonatas Nos. 8, 10, 11, 16
  • Beethoven: Sonatas Nos. 1, 5, 8, 13, 23, 31
  • Grieg: Piano Sonata in E minor
  • Chopin: Piano Sonata in B minor

Anyway, as for the rest. As a fellow Canadian, I like most of Gould's interpretations too.

Best wishes,
Jacob

By the way: That glennross is a total fraud. Did you read his posts on the "Practice in Warsaw" thread? Didn't hear much of him after that. ;D

Hey AJ, those pieces are really really great. About that nocturne op. 55 no. 2 the girl who played after me in a masterclass with Sean Chen played it terribly. The transformation throughout the master class was almost unbelievable. He was an amazing teacher and he sightread the thing like he had been playing it for years.

Anyway, my favorites are listed in my topic "best classical music piece on youtube", but here are some of my absolute absolute favorites. ;)

< My very favorite of all time. Not my favorite piece, but as far as recordings go... how do you even... what the...

Then comes that nocturne I PM'd you.

Here's some more of my favorites.

Actually, the ballade is romantic ;D haha messin with ya. I think I like the interpretation a little better on his CD.

Yeah, I feel very blessed to have instruction from a guy like Sean. I won't mention the master class one with vadym kholodenko... :-X ha ha actually I like the one with Sean much better because he could actually speak english and because I did a lot better in that one. 8) And the only reason I got to is because we have this awesome guy in my town who like knows one of the higher ups in the cliburn competition, and every year or so he gets a finalist to come and give a free masterclass to ~10 students here. And because my teacher is also awesome, I got to do it! ;D
