Am I filling out this application correctly?
on: September 15, 2015, 02:20:17 PM
Hey, sorry for this stupid question. So I'm filling out my MTNA registration, I need to have it done by tomorrow at the latest. I attached a screen shot of my application with the instructions. But it's kind of confusing. I won't submit it until I get a few responses. And my teacher is terrible at "working the email" so I can't ask her. ;D

Mainly:

Does "full name" mean their middle name too? It feels kind of weird to put down "Frederic Francois Chopin".

Did I list the Preludes and the Bach movements correctly?

Do I need to put the individual times in parenthesis like I did?

Also, I extended out the times b/c there is usually a pause in between pieces. Ha ha, and it looks like I'm filling up more of my time. I mean really, 4 minutes for Bach mov. 3 and 4 more minutes for Ginastera?! :/ ;D

I'd be consistent with the composer names. If you put Bach's middle name then put Chopin's/Ginastera's as well. Also, Ginastera isn't a contemporary composer, he's 20th century. " Contemporary means being active/living today. Looking good overall! Hope it all goes well.

I see they don't have a 20th century option.... That's very weird. They probably want you to choose contemporary for Ginastera, even though its technically incorrect ;)

Thanks AJ :) Really? you think I should put Frederic Francois Chopin and Albert Evaristo Ginastera? Because no one says "Johann Bach" but nobody really says francois of evaristo either. Rats.

And yeah it was either impressionist or contemporary, so...

Is there an " other " option for the time period?

Nope just baroque classical romantic impressionistic contemporary.

Contemporary could mean mid 20th century, couldn't it?

eh not really..

Ginastera died in the early 1980s lol, but this is classical music were talking about. They're weird about this sh*t...i mean I've even seen some people refer to Prokofiev or Richard Strauss as contemporary. So imo I think youre fine.

In regards to the topic I don't think it matters, we all know who Frederic Chopin was. lol
