This is a great forum. I've been posting here for almost as long as I've been posting on the other.
It was great to see you all join up here. It's like running into old friends at the mall.

You all  - like me -  had a reason to join up here. My reason for joining had to do with the fact that the discussions - and members -  here were not better, but different. I think we all have complaints about other forums we might be members of. However, it does no one credit to comment on that in another similar open forum such as this.

Please understand, that I am saying this with the utmost respect for all of you.

Hey, why give anyone else more ammunition than they need anyway.

Your humble servant:

I agree.  In fact, we decided as much.  Do you feel any of us have violated that excellent recommendation?...Or was iit just a "word to the wise" (guys) especially in view of the discussion presently taking place in the Old Country?

(I DId feel it was necessary to say something understated about why we suddenly showed up en masse).

It was just meant as a word to the wise.

Btw, I edited out my speculation regarding you from a few days ago, in case curious eyes are...curious.

What did happen?  I find the idea of Piano World refugees a little amusing.  (I think someone said it was Piano World)  Just tell us the full story.  There's nothing bad about that.  I thought it was just a bunch of kids screwing around at first, but it seems like you guys are all right.

I'm curious how a whole group came over.  I don't think that many people would just decide to leave a forum and then do a search and stumble on this piano forum.  Did you guys all discuss leaving?  Where is the site?  Can we go back and see the wreckage?

I am sure they will tell you.  I hope y'all like hot discussions.  It seem's some of Piano World's most vehement discussers have joined your forum.  Good luck! ::)

Alas, one of our worst tormentors from the other forum has stalked us here and is trying to incite controversy here or at least pollute our participation.  I am sorry for that.  This is not what we hoped for.  his motives are pretty transparent.

The threads speak for themselves, don't they?  I was merely responding to Bob's question about any PianoWorld problems.  To read the threads is to understand all, and to to understand all is to forgive all.

Live in Peace.

A little drama on the pf?

Are these piano world refugees or piano world rebels?

Or are these goodwill ambassadords from the pw site?

The tone over there does seem slightly tense.  I really doubt the people are that much different though.

Just tell me.  What's Willcowskitz's motive?  I saw 12 pages on that post.  I only skimmed the first one.

If you're speaking of me, please speak directly to me.
Anyway, the thread that I pasted seemed to consist of hostile thoughts against this forum and the "refugees", along with intentions to "raid"  (;D) us, so I thought it would be informative for future reference, when people start wondering where all the garbage posts begin appearing from. Also there's a member from today named "omgtifb" which I'd interpret as "Oh my God this is effing bull-stuff". Maybe they didn't think the contents of their posts would be sufficiently obvious to reveal them.

Sorry Willcowskitz.  I thought you meant my trip over there was a waste (I think.  I'm not quite sure).

I was just reading that thread at pw.  https://www.pianoworld.com/ubb/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?/topic/10/7542.html

that discusses about raiding the pf site.  Sounds like a waste of people's time to harass another forum.

(wonders what to think of pw refugees now)  So far, they seem all right to me though.

People over there are IMO kinda weird.... I never liked that forum.
I thought the conversations over here were more interesting, and the format and style of this forum is definately better- like it way more.
The- um, disagreements- over here are funnier, too. ;)

Seriously, don't fret.  The people I know who recently began posting here are all good eggs (except one, and he won't last in a moderated forum).

Me, I'm a good egg!  [insert picture of egg here, which I would do if I knew how to post pictures here.  In fact, I think I will start a new thread about something and see if it sinks like a rock . . .

PianoWorld has a lot of great musical minds, and they can be quite helpful from time to time, but besides that it seems to be a bunch of inside jokes, arrogant speeches about politics (occassionally resulting in childish insults, etc) and, more recently, endless "thread destroying" by various members, which strikes me as very odd..

It seems to me that people there expect you to know everything from the beginning, thus destroying the entire point of the forum, which is to ask questions and express opinions.

Hello. This is my very first post to your forums.  Let me start by saying it is not my intention of disrupting your forums, nor do I plan to post any other posts after this. I didn't even intend to post this one, but  have been forced to do so out of necessity.

Let me explain.  Several of the folks who have started posting here who came from Piano World are fine people. Jodi is as nice as she can be. Nina is nice too. A few  however are arrogant snobs, self absorbed individuals who think they can do no wrong, and who, over time, will end up creating the same stench here that they created there.  It is because of one of these arrogant, self absorbed know it all snobs that I find myself having to come here and post, in order that your moderator can have my ISP identity available to compare with another poster in this thread who goes by Egon something or other.

It seems that Jack Appleseed is convinced that this Egon fellow is me, trying to post links that, in his words, "portray him and his wife Athykay in a bad light".  I don't have to portray them in a bad light. They do that quite well all by themselves, and in time, in my opinion they'll do it here too.

I'm not this Egon fellow, and I would appreciate it if the moderator would be so kind as to compare our ISP identities and acknowledge this publicly so Appleseed will shut up about it.

Thank you, I'm sorry for the intrusion, but I had to prove to Mr. Applesauce that I am *not* Egon whatever his name is.

Personally, I welcome anybody to join and more or less actively contribute to this forum. However I think it would had been best if you PianoWorld people hadn't appeared as the same personas (or characters) that you went by over there, simply because it seems there's too much friction between some of you and instead of starting from a clean table you're by chance smuggling your personal battles onto this forum.

There are persons A and B who are unknown to majority on PF, but well known among PW people. They obviously hate each other for reasons unknown and unimportant for myself and most "native" PF'ers, but they both start accusing each other before even getting a chance to show their productive sides, which is hilarious. There's no need for anyone to defend each other if they're mostly unknown, because - as we all acknowledge - their actions speak for themselves. I think I'm speaking for the majority here when I say that I'd like to see those actions arise from positive rather than negative feelings, which is exactly what these pre-accusations and old grudges prevent. Let's all just try to settle!

Willcowskitz:

I hope to settle in here, too!  :)    However, there does seem to be a certain Faulknerian undertone developing that I'd love to see get nipped in the bud.  (You know, the crazy aunt in the attic theme...).

That being said, I may just lay low for awhile and avoid stirring the pot (or waking the crazy aunt).  Nothing personal, I do like this forum and don't want to see it get all weirded out.

I'm hoping to join in and not become one of those house guests that you wish you'd never invited and you're starting to think, "when will they go away?" :)

I understand what you're saying here.  I really do.  And I can assure you that I don't want the problems from That Other Site to cause any trouble for anyone here.  Contrary to what was written above, The Newbies are nice and reasonable people.  Not perfect, mind, but nice and reasonable.

Regarding the idea of keeping my old PW name rather than launch a new identity here, I actually gave the matter some thought before deciding how to handle it.  I originially registered here under a different name but then changed to my "cindysphinx" handle.  Why?

I decided it would be quite easy to recognize my writing style, and
then I'd get "Are you Cindysphinx?  You are, aren't you?  Don't *lie* now!  We know it's you!"  I'd eventually get found out anyway, so what was the point of trying to hide?

Second, I feel like I have a decent reputation at PW and lots of friendships at
there, so I saw no reason to abandon that.  Again, why hide?

Third, by the time I came over here, a few folks over at PW had figured out that The Newbies had arrived.  The cat was out of the bag, so again, why hide?

So.  We have a situation where a bunch of Newbies with a long history together have joined up with a bunch of Oldbies with a long history together.  And you know what that calls for, don't you?

Not really.  Just actively moderated so folks stay polite!

Honestly, I've found this site to be much more hard-core for students, teachers, professional and advanced pianists.  Yet it's instrument section is pretty disappointing.

The very dark color scheme takes some getting used to as well.   8)

If anyone does not like the dark color scheme, it is very easy to be switched off:

1. Open the Tools menu with the mouse
2. Select the Internet Options option with the mouse
3. Select the Accessibility button with the mouse
4. Check the "Ignore colors specified on web page" checkbox with the mouse
5. Select the OK button twice with the mouse or by pressing Enter twice.

Hope this will help  8)

If browser, please tell us which one, including version and operating system. I have a hard time guessing what you are talking about, but I'd be highly interested in changing the color scheme. Thanks.
