Hello Guys
Im currently looking for a new instrument as my 1920s baby grand is not exactly sounding as I would like to (being audiophile is not quite good sometimes).
I am considering something NEW or close to new, as sadly most renovated pianos I had chance to check around - from 1920s mostly, were not sounding as I would like.
I would like to have something in the size of 190cm where the bass is sounding nice already.
Recently I had chance to try completely renovated Bluther from 1924 (Renner mechanic, new strings etc...), 1970 Petrof, Another 2 Bluthners from 1920s, 2 August Forsters from 1920s, 2 Steinways from 1960s (In Steinway haus Berlin) and that is it for now.
The renovated Bluthner is nice, but midle section and upper octave have some metallic thin sound on some keys, even after revoicing they made just for me, it is really sad as the price is very good $7k...
Just to be clear, I do not want to spend a fortune, $32k would be my limit probably, but well, never say never.
I loved both Steinways but the price was $43 or more. And it was in Germany (Im in Czech Republic).
I was listening to some youtube videos (quality sucks usually..) and I liked Yamaha C3X - what do you think about it? I already made some research and people were positive about it. Also - ever heard about Yamaha c3STX? I cant find any info but dealer in my country have it in catalogue, and price is $4500 lower than normal C3X.
What else is there for consideration in this price range for a new instruments? Kawai I have no chance to even check live here. Petrof have one piano - STORM I will check it soon, also there is Feuerich 178 - hard to find any good info about it, I only know it is being made in China now.
Estonia is sadly also out of reach here to check, I quite liked some videos of it.
I believe all the premium brands - Steinway, Bluthner, Bechstein etc are out of the way in a new piano category, right? Problem is, in my Country, market for newer pianos (10-20 years old) is very limited for some reason, we have a Petrof here and August Foerster was making here also over 50 years but newer pianos are almost impossible to find and yes, they are in a very bad shape from some musical school etc.
I want something that will last for a long time and I will not be regretting it in next few years, I know it is a hard choice but if anyone have some input, Im listening.
ALSO - if anyone knows a good place for renovated pianos in Austria or Germany - close to Czech Republic borders (Viena, Dresden etc) that would be great!
thank you!
Jan
