Downloading a video from YouTube

I think it's probably routine and easy, for some reason I can't figure out how. Suggestions?

i use the realplayer/realtimes internet video file extension app that is built in to the program. it's a free download and accont and it comes w a bit of free cloud storage (and you can add for free by triggering different things on the set up list).
it also allows you to rip an mp3 audio file to separate the audio from the video for archiving later (ie sometimes i just want the audio and care not for the video), other times I want to save a video for later view (and comes in handy since a couple of old dl's were taken down at a later time so i can still view it now on cloud).

Use Clip Grab. It works flawlessly.

Video DownloadHelper is another one. Works as a Firefox add-on. Also available for Chrome.
It may stop working when Youtube changes code, but it usually gets fixed in a few days.

KeepVid was one I used regularly, but haven't used for a while so idk if t still works.
I'm pretty sure dirpy.com still works though; it also has audio downloading.
Both have a pretty wide range of file formats offered.

Good to have suggestions, I do most of my things on android, I ended up finding tubemate to work, sort of. Gets the job done, but not pleasant to use.
