The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Kurzweil ep500 dp question
on: October 16, 2015, 07:10:59 PM
Hello, new here, just about to buy a first digital piano.  I'm looking at used pianos to start my son (and me!) in piano lessons.  We're in an apartment, and an acoustic isn't in the cards right now.  I'm looking at a Kurzweil ep500 for $300.  It seems as if it was high end in its day.  I'm hoping to get a little more information before I drive 45 minutes to look at it.

I found the manual online, and it looks good but says nothing about the speakers.  I'm wondering if anyone knows how many speakers and what wattage this piano has.

I also wonder about sample quality and longevity.  Do DPs of the 1990s sound comparable to today's?  And do these pianos generally have long lifespans?

I'm not interested in a cheaper new portable.  I'd like a "furniture" piano that will sit in our living room.

Thanks for any help.
