Nocturne no. 2 - Original composition
on: October 28, 2015, 05:37:54 AM
Hello, this is yet another nocturne of mine, I just finished recently, but I started on it initially about a year ago, I'd be happy to know what you think of it
Also I might submit it with some other compositions to a competition, do you think it's a good idea?

Of course Chopin -- but even with that I think you have many ideas in this piece but it tends to ramble. I think if you could think in clear phrases that might help. Make a statement goes 4, 8, or even number of bars, repeat it with some variations.
then contrasting phrase. perhaps repeating the first phrase. Then your contrasting middle section but the harmonies need to go to and from someplace.
A lot of good work here. Composing and writing is really recomposing and rewriting so don't get discouraged.

Thank you for your comment
I agree with you, it was when I just began to compose, I didn't have a clear idea on what I wanted to compose, I just went with the flow, I think in my more recent pieces it's better though
And I agree with your last statement, it can be tiring sometimes, but it's rewarding at the end!
