My sincerest apologies...
on: December 23, 2004, 11:14:22 PM
I am so sorry for the vulgar and completely innapropriate picture that replaced my Sorabji portrait in some of my posts. I don't know how it got there, and was shocked and horrified when I recieved an email with that picture attached to it, asking me why it was there.

The images have been removed. I am so sorry for what happened, and I hope that you realize that I am not responsible for this in any way. What I don't understand, is when I go to the link where I found the picture, it is the correct image.

Anyway, I apologize for not noticing this before.

...What I don't understand, is when I go to the link where I found the picture, it is the correct image...

As webmaster for two commercial websites that serve the chemical engineering industry with involvement by many Fortune 500 companies, I find the fact that such a prank was even possible quite disturbing.  A right-click on the offending image yielded picture properties URL location that was literally identical to the actual original picture of the musician.  The fact that the URL used directly in the Address line of any browser only displayed the musician's picture leaves me very puzzled as to how that same URL embedded in this forum and at that anti-matter world where it also appeared would link instead to the offensive picture.

I can't imagine how this was done, but I hope webmasters and hosting services are looking into the matter to identify the culprit and the method so that some protective response can be made.  That such a prank is even possible suggests a risk to webmasters and online resources that could be far greater than the offense of that single picture.

Thank you for removing your links that had been corrupted by their hijack.

I would like to recommend, however, that Piano Forum and their host actively evaluate and identify how this hihack was accomplished so that developers can provide a security fix so that potentially greater damage does not become more widespread.
