and I must confess... that Croatian Maksim boy is kinda cute--all that leather... like a Goth concert pianist... or a biker...lol.   I have only seen the HR2 vid and the Bumblebee from IDK 10 years ago now.   Not the most spellbinding chops...but the guy has stage presence, lots of drama, and the girls just LOVE him.  That's a marketable combo any way you slice it.

it is so not about correct notes or being the greatest technical pianist...  I mean you must JAM and you must have amazing skills... but there is SO MUCH MORE that you must have to get noticed.   That is every bit as important...really more important... and you have to figure that out, too.   Otherwise, you really don't stand a chance in this business.


and Noah... playing like you--dressing like Yuja and leathering up like Maksim... would get noticed...LOL

I love those shoes..  seriously  they rock.   I like heels---I stand 5'10 in my stocking feet so a good pair of heels can put me right up to 6'2 no problem... 6'3 if I want to be in pain all night.

and I like Val, too.  She's got moxie.. that lady came to the US and then launched her career on social media and YT with no sponsors -- you got to hand it to her... regardless of any opinions as to her playing... she's done rather well for herself.  That's the American dream...even if you are from the former Soviet block nation of Ukraine.

Oh my! I haven't been on here for a month. I didn't expect my innocent joke to have resurrected Michael Sayers from the Internet dead, and to have sparked this ongoing conversation!

My opinion, though, is that music is about connecting people; if you think very highly of yourself, but your interpretations come across to many as being too esoteric, you have a problem. (an example would be Pogorelich's recent recordings)
