The Quiet Revolutionary of the Piano – Fauré’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

In the pantheon of French music, Gabriel Fauré (1845–1924) often seems a paradox—an innovator cloaked in restraint, a Romantic by birth who shaped the contours of modern French music with quiet insistence. Piano Street now provides sheet music for his complete piano works: a body of music that resists spectacle, even as it brims with invention and brilliance. Read more

A recital...
on: December 24, 2004, 10:28:05 PM
okay. So I'm preparing a recital with a violin player. And I'll be playing.
Mendelssohn-Songs without words no.16 (g-minor, Presto Agitato)
Beethoven- Sonata op.10 No.1 c-minor, 1st movement
Fr.Chopin- Etude op.25 no.2 f-minor

And the two of us will be playing:
Konstantin Mostras- Oriental dance (or something like that, I can't translate it to English...)
Jules Massenet-Meditations from "Theiss"
G.F.Händel-Sonata in E-major (not sure about the number...)
Monti's Czardas.....

And *violin* will probably play a piece or two on her own...
So what do you think?
I'd appreciate your opinion.
Thanks a lot in advance,
~~~chopin_girl
Well...I was thinking more of the arrangement and the enjoyment, yes.
So, any opinions?
Well, the arrangement is just fine, and your pieces in particular are quite enjoyable.
I love op 10 no 1, I had to play that for my auditions last year.  It has to be my favorite Beethoven sonata.
Thanks.
Yes, it's a great sonata.
Also called the "little Pathetique" that's so cute :)
But my fav is the (BIG?) Pathetique. Definitely the greatest sonata. Ever.
You should hear the whole cycle of Beethoven's Sonatas and rethink which sonata you consider the greatest. ;)
Allegro
PS: All 32 of them are great :)
I have heard all of them.
My mother is a professional pianist. There's no way I could have not heard all of them :)
And yes- I concider that one the greatest. Not by difficulty, not by "beauty", but by my own taste.
Um, I think that required a new thread. but hey,whatever.
I think the cd's going to be nice. The repertoire is ok.
Difficulty- so-so, depending which piece.
i was a little concerned about the Diabelli. i don't know if it is good enough to go on the C.D.
Ok, accepted ;). Personally, I like the Waldstein most though there might be greater sonatas. Each to his own. ;)
