Liszt rigoletto transcription

Hello guys! Today i was thinking about starting a new piece and i thought that the rigolleto transcription by Liszt would be a good choice. But the thing is i barely know how hard it is. Is there many technical difficulties or is it a musical beast. To give you an idea on what I'm working on I've just finished Toccata from Pour le piano by Debussy and I'm playing Haydn sonata no. 1 in C major and also the D major concerto! Thanks for reading!

I would say that the Rigoletto paraphrase is considerably harder, at least the second half poses some technical issues all too common to some of Liszt's most difficult compositions. I would not say it's hard like some of the transcendental studies but it comes with its problems. I think it's a great piece and if you're up to it then nothing should hold you back. You may even want to listen to the quartet whence this material comes from, from Verdi's opera. Enjoy.

Thank you for your answer! Do you know any other easier opera transcriptions? Because I really wanna play an opera transcription by Liszt and i thought that the rigoletto was one of the easiest but if you have any easier tell me!

Liszt's transcriptions are notoriously difficult, but I think you may enjoy and would certainly be interested in tackling the Sarabande by Handel - Liszt's transcription is not so cruel here. The Mozart Requiem transcriptions are also completely manageable and I personally enjoy them. Check those out.

...and so stupid of me to forget Wagner's Liebestod!!! That's a beauty!

Yeah i was thinking of the Liebestod as well! It is soooooo gorgeous! But i feel a little bit afraid of the nuances, ppp tremolos

Is the chaconne as difficult as the sarabande btw?
