Synesthesia
on: January 06, 2016, 04:00:00 AM
When I was a child and teenager, I could identify which note was being played on the piano (without looking) because each note made me sense a specific color. I just thought it was my own weird thing, but about 30 years later I saw a TV show that discussed synesthesia, and I was amazed that it was actually a real thing!

Returning to the piano after nearly 40 years, I don't seem to have that ability anymore and it's depressing. I vividly remember the color associations (F = orange, C = white, D = turquoise, etc.), but they're not there anymore when I play the notes.

Can anyone else identify with piano-related synesthesia?
