Jazz Variations
on: February 16, 2016, 07:03:51 PM
Hi All,

I thought I'd post a link to a recording of me playing one of my pieces. Sadly, the score is too many pages to just attach, but I'll happily send it to anyone interested in taking a look.

There are a lot more pieces on my soundcloud page. Your thoughts and comments will be welcome.

hey steve well that is some interesting jazz fugue you have going there.   pantonality huh?  hearing a whole heck of a lot of that but it's cool.

I like the chick corea voicings in there... this sounds like 3 tunes though not 1.  I would suggest taking this and breaking it up into several compositions.  There are some really fine ideas especially at about 5:50 when you forgot you were recording and loosened up.  Really liking that section.  Very progressive--oh and hey I am still listening and the Bach/jazz ideas are also really interesting.   Break this up... seriously...develop these ideas a bit more. I like this a lot.    ;D   but it sounds like it's lacking a cohesiveness, an idee fixee, or a leit motif, if you will.

how long have you been jazzing? when did you make the switch?

my YT link is below if you are  interested... :)

nice playing!
