20th/21st Century Concert Pieces

Do any of you have a piece/pieces with which you like to close a recital program? I am looking to come up with a list of single movement/stand alone pieces of about 6-10ish minutes in length that would be a nice addition to close out a program and are from the 20th/21st century. Something like L'isle Joyeuse, but maybe a bit more off the beaten path. I am not against a more reflective piece either. I have tossed around things from Debussy, Ravel, Messaien, Prokofiev, Boulez, Hamelin (one or two of the etudes), and others, but I am still not sure I've found the right thing.

The range of possible pieces is immense!
Among these:
Turina, concierto sin Orquesta, or other piano cycles by the same author (Radio Madrid, The Circus...);
Shosta's Sonata 1;
Scriabin's poemes;
De Falla Fantasia Baetica;
Barber Ballade;
Casella Notturnino;
Busoni: one of his Elegies
... Etc etc...

It is indeed, but why have you mentioned only one work that's almost 40 years old, two that dates from around 80 and 90 years ago and others of more than a century's vintage, all by long deceased composers, especially when the thread includes "21st Century"?!

Thanks for these. I am looking forward to listening to them. I'm curious now about your thoughts on what makes a good closing piece. If the program will (most likely) include a classical sonata and a large romantic work (Rach Sonata, Schumann Fantasie . . .) it seems strange to me to have another "academic" piece (sonata, P&F, Suite . . ). Maybe that's just me . . .

Since the OP stated a range of eras of about two centuries and mentioned Debussy and Ravel, I see no crime.

As I have made clear on more occasions that I can or even want to remember, I have no idea what or who "plinkers" are but, having tried to guess the definition of this term in the contexts in which you have used it, I have to conclude that there are so many 20th and 21st century piano works that do not fall into this category that the very mention of it is rather silly, really; OK, some might not like certain works of certain persuasions, but others might likewise appreciate them in ways that you presumably don't - but that's hardly the point, which is instead that the entire 20th century and the 21st so far has such a cornucopia of solo piano repertoire that could attract the enthused attention of so very many performers and listeners that your mention of "plinkers", whoever they might be (if indeed anyone at all) has inevitably to pale into something rather less than insignificance...

There's no "crime" per se, of course, but the list as presented goes back in time so far as to miss out on so very much; that was and is my point here, given that said list is arguably self-undermining.

Try Francois Morel's Deux Etudes de Sonorite. Morel is currently 59 years old.

this has been on my wishlist and i have the original and re worked wasserman transcriptions but the way this medley plays, it's actually quite nice and a fun way to dabble w/ the Gershy first rhap themes along with a few other non rhapsody themes for good measure/fun at the end , it's a foot tappin good time
i have a quote from my book seller on importing this somewhere re listening to it makes me want to dig it out and just go ahead and buy the thing already
