How to plan turn in Chopin Nocturne 27 no 2
on: February 24, 2016, 04:12:51 PM
Can someone give me the correct notes for this turn? (image attached)
It seems to me the notes should be Eb then for the turn F -> Eb -> Db -> Eb -> F
G is marked natural, which is confusing to me because I didn't think G was part of the turn at all. I have seen other editions where E flat is marked E natural, so I am quite confused.

The natural sign you see under the turn has nothing to do with G: it's just chance that it is at the height of a G on the staff. It is under the turn because it applies to the bottom note of the turn, in this case raising the Db to a D natural. The notes of the turn should be F - Eb - D - Eb.
