Looking for sheet music...
on: December 31, 2004, 03:04:54 AM
I was reading the 'organ2' thread and it reminded me to ask, does anyone know who publishes John Cage's 4'33'' or where I can get the score?

But then you would not be interpreting the piece correctly. ;)

Funny you asked -- as a matter of fact, I publish John Cage's 4'33" out of my own home.  I'll sell it to you for 50 bucks.

(You may call it 30 pages of blank computer paper, but I call it ART.)

"We had been prepared to make our point more strongly on behalf of Mr Cage's estate, because we do feel that the concept of a silent piece -- particularly as it was credited by Mr Batt as being co-written by "Cage" -- is a valuable artistic concept in which there is a copyright."

What a load of sh*t. Well it is possible in USA to get patents for organic molecule structures (such as genes), so why not copyright silence. Sensibility is out the window when greedy yanks smell ca$h.

"We are nevertheless very pleased to have reached agreement with Mr Batt over this dispute, and we accept his donation in good spirit."

I bet you do.
