ATCL Programme

Hi,
I've been looking at ATCL repertoire options for a few months, and think I may have chosen my programme now. It still needs approval from my teacher, but I was hoping some people here could look over it and give me some feedback as to whether it's balanced and has a big enough range.

Bach - Prelude + Fugue Dm BWV 851
Beethoven - Sonata op14 no2
Mendelssohn - Songs Without Words op53 no3
Ravel - Pavane pour une infante defuncte
Balakirev - Toccata C#m

Fairly decent, albeit a but too predictable.
i think i inclusion of a post immpressionist 20th century piece or a modern work to include something jazz influenced luke kapustin would be great. I might chop mendelssohn and sub it w balakirev, then put a kapustin prelude and fugue at the end.

The above frames the program nicely w opening and closing w prelude and fugue. I might dig and play handel unstead of has bach but thats just me..

It's a balanced one.  Don't worry too much on how well balanced your programme is.  Focus more on the delivery of a convincing performance.  The pieces in your programme, except perhaps the Balakirev Toccata, are popular choice.  Any experienced examiner (even though not piano major) will be familiar with them.  Nonetheless, you don't need to go for exotic choices.  Good luck!

No corrections on the repetoir just a wish of luck with the entrance on that d minor prelude. I intent to help you rather than scare you off, but there was this master recital where a guy lost it 15 times just in the prelude. Ruined the night. Take care of Bach, otherwise he will take care of you!

Thanks for the feedback :)
I have shown the programme to my teacher, who suggested I need something newer in there. She recommended I take a look at the Debussy preludes. Having listened to them, I have (tentatively) added Prelude 9 from Bk2, Homage à S. Pickwick Esq. PPMPC
