Teaching a beginner... guitar?

Not me, but overheard.

I'm wondering what other teachers are thinking.

What would you suggest for an overall workflow, instrument, expectations for an adult with zero music background starting on guitar?

I know what I'm overhearing.  I have a general idea of what I'd suggest except I'm missing the guitar experience part.
