I don't think anyone on this thread is actually making any serious conclusions based on the article. You're being too quick to throw around a fallacy.

I agree that the article is pretty crap. No citations (except for the copy and paste pics), no data...just a hyperbolic headline with a few "sad" pictures. Oh god

Such as a little torture.  Haha.  If someone else is pushy and controlling about your own practicing though, then they're responsible to some extent for it.  So... failure?  It's part theirs.  Success, part theirs, but it will still feel good.
