What did Chopin do to me ?!?
on: May 19, 2016, 09:56:57 PM
Hello fellow members
So ... My favorite composer for the past 2 years has been Chopin.
Last year with my dad passing away, I started listening to lots of Yiruma (it seemed to help); and also Coldplay's new album "Ghost Stories". I also listened to hours and hours of the Chopin competition❤️
I've always enjoyed dissonant music - realised this mainly after playing Ginastera op.2 no.3 "Danza del Gaucho Matrero". I also thoroughouly enjoy Ginastera's second piano concerto.
Peter Eotvos; Takashi Yoshimatsu - are new to me, but I enjoy them both.
I'm a fan of horror movies and have read a fair deal of horror books.
At the moment I listen to some Jimi Hendrix, a whole lot of Jeff Buckley and Chopin's music to fill the gaps.
The Scientist by Coldplay is my favorite song alongside Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah.
What is the relevance of this ?!?
The question: do these styles come out in my improvisation?
Subconscious intertextuality 😊 ... I like to call it 😂
All was taught to us one way or another, different experiences are the only things that define our music.
Have fun listening to this one
I sure had loadsa fun playing it ... (And listening to it in the background ... Day-by-day ... smiling 🙃)
It is always the best to listen to background improv of oneself 😂
I recommend you go and improvise - it cures all hurt, it cures wisdom.
"Where ignorance is bliss, tis folly to be wise."
A list of my favorite improvs (🌅To feed your mind🌅 ... 🙊 Unless you're chicken🐣) :
