R.I.P Joel Hastings
on: May 27, 2016, 09:48:58 PM
Today is a sad day for me as I think about Joel Hastings, who passed away yesterday at the young age of 46 from an unexpected heart attack. He was a brilliant pianist, and an extremely kind person, who was so kind and genuine in the few conversations we had together. Let's enjoy one of his recordings to honor his life and passing.

Best,

AJ

I saw this on slippeddisc earlier. I rather liked his playing; definitely one of my favourites of those pianists I discovered online. Sad news.

I’m sure he has inspired many with his kindness and very fine playing.  Hopefully his followers will also be inspired to live as healthy a life as possible through proper diet and exercise with hopes of possibly lowering the chance of having a heart attack at such an early age.  Thank you for sharing this.

Piano Street Magazine:
Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
