Competition repertoire
on: June 07, 2016, 08:27:42 PM
Hi! I beg you excuse me because this is my first post...
I come here to ask for help at choosing a piece to learn and perform in a competition next year. I have perfomed: Chopin op 64 no 2 and op 9 no 2; Bach some inventions ; Mozart sonata k 545, 389 ; Radnich's pirates of the caribbean ; Debussy's arabesque...
Well, in the first stage of the competition you have 8 minutes of time, and I was thinking on performing the Chopin etude op. 25 no. 2 (the bees) and another piece. Which could it be?
I have some ideas like Chopin's Fantaisie-Improptu or nocturne op 48 no 1... But I don't know.
Any suggestions on not very long and beautiful/impressing pieces?
Thanks

The two chopin pieces are advanced. I recommend you to not play those pieces. Does it have to be Chopin? If it doesn't, you can play Liszt Consolations or Mozart's fantasie k.397.You can also play Bach Prelude and Fugue No.15 BWV 884. If the competition is Chopin, you should play his easier nocturnes(you should do 32/2 or 37/1), his mazurkas(17/1,4,30/3, or 50/1), or his polonaise Op.26 no.1.
