Trifonov's Sonata-Fantasie
on: June 24, 2016, 10:55:10 PM
I've heard this live on the radio last year.

would anyone have a recording of this magnificent concert?

No, but I would love to hear it! I can't find any other mention of it besides that page. At first, I wondered if they conflated it with Scriabin's Sonata No.2, which bears the same name, but it's not in 4 movements! The mystery continues.

I heard the live broadcast, it was definitely his own piece.
Just as wonderful as his piano concerto, but even more beautiful.
I'd love to hear it again...

Surely some kind soul recorded it off the internet and can share it! It's strange that there's no mention of it anywhere else. Did it sound as if he's the only who could play it, or is it approachable by mere mortals?  ;)

No, but there are excerpts on the documentary portion of this DVD:

Thank you so much--I stand corrected! I gave up looking for it a few months ago. Now, the search is on for his Sonata! I recently sent him a Facebook friend request, but I'm not holding my breath until he accepts it! If he does, I'll certainly ask about its availability. Perhaps DG will record it and his concerto. (Wishful thinking, I know...)

Thank you for the upload.
I have also been looking for ages and it is definitely worth it.
There seems to be a very healthy dose of 20th century Russian influence but its certainly very original.
I would love to see a performance some time.
