Martinu Concerto for 2 Pianos Score?
on: January 04, 2005, 12:52:02 AM
We are applying for a competition which requires this piece and have tried getting a copy of the score both in Europe and the USA to no avail.  I called the publisher and they were supposed to have a new printing in November which never happened and they have no further information as to when they will have more copies available.  If anyone here has a copy or knows where I can find one please let me know, we are very worried we won't be able to get the score in time.

Thanks,

Elena

Don't know where you have looked, but have you tried: https://www.musicabona.com/catalog/P0113.html.en

I'm pretty sure this is the sheet music, not a recording.

Thanks Westman.  I have emailed them to see if they have it in stock.  Most online stores I have contacted will email me 2 weeks after I place the order to tell me they don't have it in stock and have to order it from the publishers, which is back to square one with me.  Hopefully this one does have it.

Thanks!

Whoops, that is a reduction of the concerto for 1 piano and orchestra.  I checked their catalogue and they do not have the concerto for 2 pianos and orchestra.   :(

Thanks for the lead anyway.

Hope I'm not boring you with this, but here is another try. Other scores at this site indicated reductions, but this one did not. Maybe its the real thing, or by now you've already found it somewhere else. Good luck.

Elibron has it:

https://www.elibron.com/english/other/item_detail.phtml?msg_id=149795

It's obviously the 2 piano version.
They claim to ship within 2 weeks.  I never ordered scores there,
therefore I can not judge, if 2 weeks is correct or even might do
it in less than 2 weeks.

Best Regards // Dietmar

You guys are so sweet to keep the recommendations coming!

Up to now I have contacted all the paces and none have the score in stock.  Just emailed Elibron and am awaiting their response.  The people at MusicaBona have offered to get in touch with the Bohuslav Martinu Institute to see if they can locate a score.  This is really ridiculous if you think about it!  It's not even an unkown piece!

Hold on hold on!  Just got a response from Hutchins and Rea (recommended by a friend) and they have gone way out of their way to call a number of sources and warehouses and even back to the publisher (they got the same response I did) and they found a single copy!!

The guy was a sweetheart and did everything he could to get this for me.  I highly recommend this company if any of you need to find hard to get scores in the future. (https://www.hutchinsandrea.com/)

Thanks again for all your input, it will be useful in the future when I need to find other things.

After all that, hopefully we can hear you both perform the piece someday  :)

Good luck!
