This a bargain?
on: July 02, 2016, 03:35:59 PM
Hi,

Looking for a 70's/80's U3 and I found this here: https://www.gumtree.com/p/pianos/yamaha-u3-upright-piano-price-dropped-to-%C2%A31799/1175133667

Now, for £1800/$2390 it seems too good to be true, but from the pictures it seems okay. Just wanted some opinions on whether it looks alright to buy or not.

Thanks,
Ron.

it seems you were looking for that specific model, which indicates you think they're instruments of particular merit.  you'd have a better notion of the market.  examining the thing and playing/hearing it is essential anyway.  the U3's in my limited experience at dealers had no life to them, very bland and generic in response and tone, even compared to student practice uprights (60's hamilton/baldwin).
