New color scheme available!
on: January 04, 2005, 12:36:11 PM
For those of you that have problems reading the white text on black background I have created an inverted theme. To be able to use it out you must be logged in. Go to Profile>Look and Layout Preferences>Current Theme... and click "(change)".
Change to the "FP Inverted Theme".

Let me know what you think about the colors and if you have ideas about how to improve the look or readability!

Interesting concept, but I actually find the old color scheme to be easier on the eyes. I think it's because the gold lettering on white background is exceedingly difficult (for my old eyes anyway).  I guess it's nice to have a choice, but I'll be switching back to the old.

Thanks nilsjohan. Say, is it possible for you to make other color schemes? It's not so much the background color that causes problems, but the gold for certain text items, as the previous poster mentioned. The contrast is just not too great, neither for gold on white nor for white on gold. Replacing gold with blue, for example, would work. Otherwise, I like it. Thanks.

Thanks for your comments.
I have now changed the Inverted Theme a bit for greater contrast and clearer font settings. For example the gold text is darker and the smallest fonts a little bigger.
Do you like it better now?

Looks OK in the inverted scheme, but in the original scheme, the gold text on gold background is no longer visible. This is using Safari, though, and I do recall that there are differences between how the browsers display the pages.

I didn't change the original theme at all and it looks fine in Internet Explorer, Netscape Mozilla and Firefox.
Exactly where is the text gold on gold bg? Is it perhaps on the header of the topic index (the "Subject", Started By" etc links)?

Yes, it's the "Started by". This is in white and not well visible against the gold bg. The name of the person who started the thread is now practically invisible. This text as well the box around it are in practically the same color (gold). The same occurs on the forum homepage. For whatever reason, this color is gold in Safari, but it is black or dark-grey in Explorer.

Maybe make the background off-white?

Also... Is there any way that the site can change the color of the links I have already read?  I forget which ones I have read and tend to read them again!

I, for one, like the existing color scheme.  I can read the white letters just fine, and it "looks" like a piano forum!

Wow. Thanks! The black background has always hurted my eyes, but I was reluctant to get rid of it, as then it would look ugly with Opera and I'm too lazy to get a new CSS file. But there is no Look for a piano forum except what makes its memebers the most comfortable.

Greetings

I prefer the original scheme, it's not as bright and hard on the eyes.

Cheers

Great site BTW. ;D
