Anime director I think.  I'll google a bit...

Dumb question, right?  That's a good anime director?

I like his movies. They're great. :) I really love Princess Mononoke and the Wind Rises.

I didn't think you were into anime!

"Spirited Away" is my favorite movie along with Singing in the Rain (1953 American) and Pather Panchalli (1955 India) and a couple Chaplin films.

Spirited Away is really good too. First watched it when I was 6, gave me a few nightmares. XD

What I love most about Miyazaki are his story-telling choices. For example "corruption of beauty" plays a central role in the Wind Rises, he perfectly showcases his grief, regret, and shame in humanity's ability to corrupt and destroy beautiful things. With the Wind Rises it was about how the machines that displayed human ingenuity, passion, and creativity quickly turned into one of the most devastating tools of war in history. In Princess Mononoke it was about the self-destructive nature of human greed and thirst for power. I just love the passion, thoughtfulness, and nuance behind the messages. He among other directors really elevated Japanese animation [films].

It's too bad these kind of movies are so rare nowadays. RIP anime
And for some reason makoto shinkai refuses to stop writing cliche high school romance

I recognize some of the characters from this thread and imdb.

Creepy part... I barely looked for info.  I saw wikipedia and imdb.  But now I'm getting ads and suggested youtube video links popping up for his stuff now.  I didn't notice it at first.  Then I thought, "Hey, that looks kind of familiar... Wait!  How did that appear as a suggestion?"

I agree. More accurately he has a reverence for nature. It permeates so much of his writing
