Impromptu in A-flat major - Franz Schubert
on: September 02, 2016, 07:59:23 PM
Hi!  :) I haven't been here for a very long time and now I decided to post a video from my recital which was in June.

I was supposed to take grade six exam in June as well, but some things happened and I also wasn't feeling very confident about all of my pieces so I will take the exam this school year instead. I will probably be playing the same pieces as I would this June and the Impromptu is one of them. So all suggestions for improvement are welcome :P

This is probably the most difficult piece of all my exam pieces, but I have been practicing it for the longest time, so I felt the most comfortable playing it at the recital. I actually started learning it 2 years ago already, but was having a lot of problems (especially with the middle part), so I left it for a while and tried it again last year.

I usually have pretty big problems with stage fright and nervousness, but this recital was somehow different because something very traumatic and hurtful to me just happened and so I didn't really care much about the usual things I worry about. I think I was in some weird state, but as bad as it was, it helped me get rid of my stage fright.  :)

So here it is  :)

Good performance! Good luck on your exam!

I don't want to judge you based on your recital performance... We all have nerve problems.

Very nicely played. Wish I could play that expressively with bad stage fright.

Lovely performance! I would never guess you previously struggled with the middle section, because it seemed to flow very naturally, so congratulations! I hope you are doing ok after the traumatic incident you mentioned.

Thank you very much!  :) Stage fright is sooo annoying!!! >:( I think this was the first time that my hands weren't completely shaky and that I didn't concentrate mostly on just trying to hit the right keys! I mean I would never choose for something bad to happen just so I can get over stage fright, but I guess something good can really come out of everything. I hope I can remember that feeling and use it next time. Thanks again!  :)

Thank you!  :) Yes I did struggle with the middle section A LOT!!!! For a while I had a feeling like it was impossible for me to ever learn it. And my teacher didn't know what to do either... so then we decided to leave it alone for some time.... but then when I started to practice it again after a year or so, it was so weird, I remembered it really really fast and it was going sooooo much better, I didn't even understand how that happened. It's like my brain learned it without me practicing it or even thinking about it.  :o Things like this make me really interested in how the brain works! I would really like to know how that happens!  :)
Yes thank you I'm doing better, although lately my life is not going that great... but I hope things will get better!  :)

Thank you so much!  :) I really hope I will! For awhile I wasn't playing piano as much as I did in the beginning, because I had to give my piano away (I gave it to my music school,) because of problems with neighbours and so for some time I only had my 5-octave keyboard to practice on. Now I have a digital piano so it's easier again, so I'm hoping I can start practicing and playing more!  8)

Hi littletune,

Lovely tune and NICE progress !!!  and yes it has been quite a long time and there are so many new faces in PS now.  How is your English interpretation work and how are your neighbours? ;)
