need piece suggestions?!
on: January 08, 2005, 06:01:08 AM
Currently I am a jazz pianist who used to study classical music extensively but I havent touched it a few years and I would like to get back into it...Are there any pieces that people could recommend to get started on to building a good repetoir? i am a pretty good reader with a very large hand span ...I have good technique as far as scales and arpeggios but I need to fix some left hand weakness problems and need more independence. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Kenny

Beethoven Sonatas, and the Bach Well Tempered Clavier would be helpful in independence and left hand.

mozart/haydn sonatas, variations...
romantic period - choose something you really love (chopin waltzes, mazurcas, schumann - jugends album/kinderszenen, schubert impromptus/moments musicaux)

actually i think anything you can sight read decently and you really would love to play - any work will help you improve your playing
