Which composers am I missing?
on: November 29, 2016, 02:58:37 PM
With so many piano music composers out there, I'm constantly on the look out for someone I may not know. I would appreciate it very much if people could post their own favourites on this thread...perhaps pieces they know by well known composers, could be any era, that perhaps are underrated or unknown, or contemporary composers others may not know. I am particularly interested in the minimalist/new age genre, so George Winston, Ilya Beshevli, Yann Tierson, and of course Einaudi fall into that category. From the 19th-20th Centuries Eric Satie is a particular favourite, and further back Beethoven, Chopin and Schubert, but really anything that has the quality to tug at the heart strings.
Please air your thoughts and particular favourites, it'd be great to see what people like and hopefully to discover new music from others. Thank you.

Shimomura. I've performed this in recital. Super effective work
1st theme decidedly more neo romantic than anything, but 2nd theme is neo impressionism, and highly inspired by Satie.

Zektbach has a bit of a lean towards neoclassical , but highly varied so the pieces are all over the place but overall are super attractive. I have the whole book of pieces, it's a cool set of scores.

Mitsuda. arrangements by Hamauzu. Lovely work overall. I have this score book too, they're not too bad to get through

Here's a relatively unknown young Russian composer some of you may know, and he's already released a huge amount of material. There isn't that much on youtube unfortunately, but here's one -
If you want to listen to more of his music, then sign up to vk.com and you'll find all his music on there.
