Thoughts on Josef Hofmann's "The Sanctuary"
on: January 01, 2017, 09:09:27 PM
This piece somehow found its way into my youtube suggestions, and I fell in love with it. It's a lesser known piece (I've only found three recordings, one by Hofmann himself), but I want to give it a go. Hofmann was more of a pianist than a composer, so there are some quirky things about this piece. For example, its written in free time, and there's sections with a 5 against 4 polyrhythm. When played correctly, though, this piece has an amazing soundscape. Just wondering if any of you have experience with this piece or any thoughts about it.
