Where would you place the difficulty of the Schubert Liszt transcription "Der Doppelganger?" I ask because I need to determine whether or not it's appropriate for a competition.

Generally, I would ask my teacher but he is judging the competition and one of the rules is that one of my pieces must be something he has had no input on. From what I understand he's not to be aware of the piece I am working on.

The piece has its difficulties for certain, but in my opinion, it's nowhere near the difficulty of the other transcriptions and I need to decide now whether I should pursue another piece or not. The other pieces I'm playing will be Bach's WTC 1 Prelude and Fugue no 2 and Chopin's Etude op 10 no 1. Both of these I am working on with my teacher and I know it's only natural that the independent piece be of lesser difficulty but I wonder if I shouldn't work on something a bit more technically challenging.

Any suggestions? I'd like to play something a little less performed, hence the transcription, and I'd like something pretty emotionally involved. Other pieces in the running include Chopin Nocturne op 27 no 1 or opus 48 no 1, both of which are performed regularly.
