Question about Shostakovich's 5th Symphony
on: January 30, 2017, 06:01:23 AM
Hey,  8)

My love for piano solo transcriptions (which, I think, is relatively well-known in these parts by now) has now led me on a hunt for just such a transcription of Dmitri's world-famous 5th, spurred on quite a bit by a certain bit of information I came across in the comments of Manashir Iakubov for the two-pianos version of it published by the DSCH:

"...There are several arrangements of the Fifth Symphony for the piano by different authors: for the piano in two hands by Alexander Benditsky, reviewed and approved by the composer (the manuscript is kept in Dmitri Shostakovich's depositories)..."

I've already had a look for it, obviously, in both English and Russian, but so far I've drawn a blank. Does anyone here know if that arrangement is still available somewhere?

As always, big cheers to everyone for taking the time to read this and for any help that might be offered,
Very best,
M.W.
