Liszt is SO MUCH FUN!!!
on: February 04, 2017, 04:58:23 AM
Man, earlier today I was playing parts of gnomereingen for this girl and like 5 seconds into it I completely forgot about her. I got so into it like I always do with this piece, it brings about a child-like joy and excitement in me.

I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS MUCH FUN PLAYING PIANO MAN.

People say 'virtuoso Liszt' is boring (my teacher hats this piece lol!) is shallow, tasteless but IDC!!! It's BLOODY FUN!!!!

Finally broke my Liszt cherry and now I'm aching to play another etude by him...it's too bad everything is so hard and takes forever to learn properly...

Word.

I still haven't bothered to really "nail" the 2nd Hungarian (I have played others) -- sort of a case of "this and those Transcendental Etudes and bits of the Sonata that are within my technical grasp (disclaimer:  many of the TranscEt are not within my technical ability, nor is much of the Sonata -- I wouldn't say I'm proud of that, just that they're not in my "bag of tricks") would take time away from stuff I'd rather do" -- but I fully agree that even just reading through some of these very familiar pieces is

wait for it

just plain FUN!

C'mon, the "friska" from the 2nd HungRhaps makes anybody smile when they're just reading along and playing it.

Any number of examples will do.

Kind of puts you in a good mood.

Thanks for reminding me, and, one should think, others!

So instead of getting some you ended up playing with yourself? ;D

People only say that about Liszt for two reasons.

1) they cannot play any Liszt

2) they have heard Liszt played badly ...

Iron frame piano aside, man was a genius.

Poems of Ecstasy – Scriabin’s Complete Piano Works Now on Piano Street

The great early 20th-century composer Alexander Scriabin left us 74 published opuses, and several unpublished manuscripts, mainly from his teenage years – when he would never go to bed without first putting a copy of Chopin’s music under his pillow. All of these scores (220 pieces in total) can now be found on Piano Street’s Scriabin page. Read more
