What to learn?
on: April 09, 2017, 06:51:29 PM
I've been playing piano for a long time but never seriously. I usually looked at people playing then attempted to copy then quit. Though a few months ago I decided to try playing piano without really knowing how to read sheet music as music class in school wasn't really learning how to read sheet music it was just making noises and some rhythms. One I started I tried the royal conservatory but the thing was I was racing through all of them. I got to level 7 easily after only a couple of months. I started to get pieces to try playing, but recently I've been having a hard time choosing a song for my difficulty to learn the right techniques specifically for speed. Here are the pieces I've learnt:
Beethoven Moonlight Sonata Mvt. 1
Chopin Prelude Op. 28 Op. 4
Chopin Prelude Op. 28 Op. 7
twelve variations on ah vous dirai-je maman (Some of them not all)
Mozart Sonata No. 16 in C Major 1st Movement
Mozart Lacrimosa
Chopin Nocturne Opus 9 No. 2
Clair de Lune - Claude Debussy
Gymnopédie No. 1 - Erik Satie
Chopin Nocturne in C-sharp Minor
Beethoven Fur Elise
Chopin: Waltz in A Minor (Op. Posth)
The first 2 minutes of Chopin 1st Ballade
So yeah I feel like I don't know where to go from here. I want to learn an etude but I find them a little too difficult or the ones that I've heard. Any suggestions of an etude or a piece to help with my speed? Also keep in mind that I can't get help from my teacher because I don't have one. Thanks in advance!

Going to echo the sentiments of M_james on a similar post a while ago: you don't need us to tell you what to play. Find music that you like to play, and play it. Your technique will be pushed this way; as long as you make sure you're relaxed at all times.
As far as my personal recommendations, if you're looking for a doable Chopin etude (which doesn't really exist at your level), you can attempt 25/2 if you just have to play one.
