Matsushiba - Piano Concerto in B Minor "Allegro Appasionato :-]
on: May 15, 2017, 05:14:30 PM
sometimes these things sound derivative, but this is fun, 'neoromantic' enough to give a solid nod to Most like Saint Saens (but I could not place direct quotes, maybe heavily based on or another of Camille's works served as a basic template or inspiration?) , bits of Chopin, and maybe a little Alkan popping here and there, but fresh enough that it's not boring, maybe because it's short, but this transcription nails it.
Chiharu Sudo's playing is again in top form, showing she has formidable 'classical chops/skillz', and I love that she indulges this kind of stuff.
Piano Concerto in B Minor: Allegro Appassionato (Japanese: ピアノ協奏曲 ロ短調 アレグロ・アパッショナート, Piano kyōsōkyoku Ro tanchō areguro apasshonāto)" -
composed by Taku Matsushiba
has been published by Yamaha Music Media [YMM] (Japan).
composer and bio and link to recording of the work (the pianist is great, i've watched many of her recordings, and generally they are superb)

Graduated Tokyo University of the Arts Composing Division
2015 - Graduated Tokyo University of the Arts Masters for Composing Division.
While studying and playing contemporary music, as he started listening to Cornelius' album "Sensuous" in high school. That experience expanded his music interest, exceeding to genres such as pop and electronica. He then discovered his love for the tidemark of soul music, D'angelo. Being struck by the incredible groove of D'angelo's unique rhythm and sound balance, Taku realised how limited his music notation (musical score expression) was and drove him to study more deeply about contemporary music. All those experiences lead him to compose music that sounded like a mash up of contemporary music and classical music. This new musical approach was highly received around the world. With his remarkable orchestration, he has extended his works to composing music for advertisements and animations.
