Is it possible to ignore posts by particular users???
« on: August 01, 2017, 11:25:52 AM »
Just curious - there are maybe 1 or 2 users (who I shall not name) who I'd rather not hear from.

I suppose it's not possible to have an ignore list, and if that someone posts a message, it clearly says 'You've chosen to ignore this persons posts'???

Sorry, but there's a particular person who seems to somehow use this thread to post the one and only video he's proud of, and everyone else seems rather sick of it.

His repeated doing of this is just hijacking some threads now...

Unfortunately, there is not an ignore button.
I would suggest that we report all such self-advertising  posts to Nils.

It is sort of annoying, isn't it?  But I get by by simply not bothering to read anything by those few people (I dare say I have pretty much the same list as you do, perfect_pitch!).  I just scroll on by.

In a way I have to admit I feel sort of sad for them, as I do scroll on by -- and if they ever had something interesting or worth while to say, I'd miss it.  But that's their problem, not mine!

I got the impression this was kind of a template website so the vendor of the template would have to offer it.  I think it's been asked before.

....This still is no way to win the thread perfect_pitch.   ;)  You could possibly get some kind of ignore feature in place, but then you'll never know if you won the thread, not for sure.  You'd only be fooling yourself.  If you want to make it easier on yourself, just assume I won, blah, blah, blah *Bob continues spewing out... werds*  ::)  :P

This forum has always had its characters. The main thing I notice about the present crop is that they take themselves more seriously than those of a decade ago. Even Susan and Karli (before she went funny) could laugh at themselves. This deadly seriousness is a bit ridiculous isn't it ? I don't think any of us is going to set the musical world on fire. If I want to ignore a post I just do so, simply do not respond, I don't need a computer function to do it for me.

You must think I'm a very sore loser Bob... In fact, it had nothing to do with that thread. I'll win it anyway - fair and square.

Its been posted a few times this request, one member (davidjosepha) offered a solution if you want to program yourself the function on your computer, but I guess it would only work on the system that has the code unfortunately.

This has been asked for a few times, but I don't' think anything has come of it.

Rotating that scroll wheel will do in the meantime.
Made a Liszt. Need new Handel's for Soler panel & Alkan foil. Will Faure Stein on the way to pick up Mendels' sohn. Josquin get Wolfgangs Schu with Clara. Gone Chopin, I'll be Bach

Here's your solution:

Composing/improvising

Chopin's 4th ballade and 3rd sonata.
Scriabin Op. 42 no. 1, 2, and 3.
Bach Partita No.4

Not much of a solution...

In light of recent events... we REALLY need this option.

Aren't there generic browser extensions that will remove posts to some extent?

So by ignoring every other poster, you could finally (imagine to) win?

Believe me, I was not referring to that thread.

A few of the recent trolls have become incredibly tedious, and it would be really handy if that power could be taken away from them.

Some of them are kind of amusing though...
