So this is my first proper foray into Scarlatti on the advice of my teacher. Ive run through it a few times and it is relatively straightforward so far at slightly less than full pace (albeit slightly disjointed!)... except...

I'm currently working out / writing out fingering on the score and I'm a bit stuck on bars 52, 54 and similarly 105 and 107 where those left hand tenth stretches are really awkward to keep smooth with no pedal.

I've tried both 5212 and 5121 fingerings and don't have a particular preference - I think probably the former is slightly easier but which do people who've played this use or should I just pick one and stick with it?

Personally I prefer 5121 for those figures, but do whichever feels easier for you.

I've not played this particular scarlatti sonata, but would suggest picking one particular fingering early. For such a fast piece it makes a big difference and you don't want to have to change it once you get up to full tempo.

If you take a look at the following video it look's like Barton uses 5121 for the A A C A and 5212 for the F F A F in measure 52 and 54.

Awesome thanks - yes I am familiar with that particular video and I think the ideal is as you say, different ones depending on which of the four sections it is.
