Still working on this one, but would love to get some feedback to know if it's headed in the right direction

Thx!

Thanks for posting! It's well-played in general but to me there are two issues:

1) Could use more dynamic contrast. It's played at a steady volume throughout, so it ends up sounding a bit mechanical.

2) To me the accents and held notes make it sometimes feel like it's 2/4, then a third beat catches you, and it doesn't quite have the usual 9/8 "feel" I expect with this piece. Maybe it's the tempo? Anyone else get the same feeling?

In any case, well done and keep playing Bach! :)

You played nicely! You are the right track. You have the notes down, so now you should work on tempo. Make sure to speed it up slowly so you don't lose the nice articulation you have now. I agree with tenk that you should add more color and dynamics to your phrases. Right now, it sounds a bit too uniform, and you want it to sound interesting to the listener. You're doing great! Best of luck!

Hi,
I enjoyed your recording and I think you got some good feedback.  Well done.  I do have a question for you.  What equipment and techniques did you use to make that recording?  I am trying to pull together a setup to record my Yahama upright.  Thanks!

Thank you all for the replies, this is much appreciated!

Indeed, it sounds somewhat mechanical so still some work to do as well as speeding it up...

The equipment I used is an Iphone 7 (audio and video) and then opened the iMovie software on my phone to cut it a bit as well as give it that dark look, was just a few clicks and from there straight upload to YT

Cheers!

Yes i think I stress those offbeat high notes a bit too much ... will straighten them out  ;)
