The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (Medley for Piano)
on: February 05, 2018, 11:27:44 AM
Greetings... Normally I'd put this in my normal Epic Piano Arrangements thread, but this arrangement is my longest yet. I'd like to be known for more than 'the guy who arranged the Max Payne theme for piano' and did this video as this year commemorates the 20th year since Ocarina of Time was released on the Nintendo 64.

I hope you like it, plus it's got some awesome shots of the piano from overhead. Made a custom iphone holder that sticks to the ceiling and records.

It's hard to include every song from Zelda... there were so many, but I wanted to choose some of the most lyrical.

I don't know this piece/game at all but I found your arrangement and performance really impressive - particularly your effortless octave passages and the LH stride playing (at about 9 minutes, I think?). Wish my technique was as accurate as yours!

I wanted to choose some of the most lyrical.
The lyrical parts and the ending are especially nice  :)

Thank you... I'll admit the Stride playing took a lot of effort and practice. I spent hours just playing at half speed, then a number more hours playing it at half speed blindfolded until I could get it right, then did some rhythmic practice to get it perfect at speed...

It was a bit of a chore, but paid off. Octaves I've had no trouble with - I've played Liszt before.    :)

Piano Street Magazine:
Women and the Chopin Competition: Breaking Barriers in Classical Music

The piano, a sleek monument of polished wood and ivory keys, holds a curious, often paradoxical, position in music history, especially for women. While offering a crucial outlet for female expression in societies where opportunities were often limited, it also became a stage for complex gender dynamics, sometimes subtle, sometimes stark. From drawing-room whispers in the 19th century to the thunderous applause of today’s concert halls, the story of women and the piano is a narrative woven with threads of remarkable progress and stubbornly persistent challenges.
