Tension in the Andres Schiff photo
on: March 20, 2018, 11:59:38 AM
When I logged in this morning, the first photo on the banner was that Schiff thing talking about Bartok.
Is it just me, or is that posture extremely tense, something we'd want to correct right away in a student?

That banner is entitled "Schiff horses around". If you watch the video, he first gives the image of horses, and then later the idea of violas playing in a band. He is miming the violas in the part of the picture you see, and well, he's not a violist. When you watch him play, his hand looks relaxed. His voice also sounds relaxed. I don't think he's tense, other than trying to hold up one hand and pretend it's a violist bowing.
